Dinner Hosted for Sizane High School’s Headmistress

Rev Deborah Manyoba the headmistress of Sizane Secondary School recently attended an African Methodist Episcopal 49th Quadrennial church conference which was held at Opryland Hotel in Nashville, TN.  This visit was so timely as we had just acquired an electronic library for her school (http://www.widernet.org/egranary/purchase/faq). It was during this visit that we had a chance to meet with the Headmistress and how impressive it was to discover how much of an advocate she is for her students. We talked about the improvements that have been made to the school since my last visit in March of 2011.  Of all the High Schools that I visited during this period, Sizane was one that impressed me the most.  I marvelled when I looked at their library that was at the time equipped with approximately 20 computers.  I am pleased to advise all that this library is now equipped with 58 computers.  How timely could this electronic library be for this school.  It gives those of us in the Diaspora a significant amount of satisfaction when we know that our little efforts will go a long way in enhancing the quality of lives of the children of Mthwakazi and to know that we are handing over these resources to those that will be faithful custodians.  I am proud to inform all that Rev. Manyoba is a fighter for the cause of her students.  As a result we are pleased to inform all of what seems to be a partnership that will be characterized by mutual cooperation, responsibility and accountability. Finding good partners on the ground is critical to the success and development of Mthwakazi.

It was during her visit that I was delighted and honored to host a dinner for her in my home. We invited friends and colleagues that had assisted us in the fundraising effort for this library.  Having a face to face discussion with her was quite assuring for our friends who had a chance to hear first hand of the accomplishments made by this school.  There is somethig to be said about touching and feeling where your contribution is going and my friends had that opportunity.  I appreciate the efforts made by the headmistress to take the time and effort to answer any pertinent questions raised.  Only God knows how much of an impact this library will have not only on the students, but to the teachers and the community at large. Only time will tell.

Rev. Deborah Manyoba makes us proud for the dedicated work she is doing at Sizane High School.
